Privacy Policy
How Geelong Sharks Rugby League Club handles your information when you use this website.
Last updated: September 2026
Geelong Sharks Rugby League Club (the "club") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information the club collects through this website, why, and what your rights are. It applies to this website only — not to third-party platforms such as Facebook, Instagram or Google Forms linked from it.
Information we collect
- Information you give us. If you email the club (geelongsharkssecretary2024@gmail.com) or submit an expression of interest via our Google Form, you provide your name, contact details and the content of your message. Some processing is then performed by service providers (Google) on the club's behalf.
- Information from third parties. Registration and payments for playing are handled by NRL/MyLeague, and expressions of interest are submitted through Google Forms, not the club. Any data you enter there is handled under their privacy terms, which you can read on their sites.
- Website analytics. This site uses Vercel Web Analytics to understand how visitors use the site (such as page views, referrers and approximate region). The service does not use cookies, does not fingerprint individual devices, and does not store analytics data in your browser. We only see aggregated statistics — never the identity of individual visitors.
- Site operation. The site is hosted on Vercel. Like most web hosts, Vercel processes standard technical data (such as IP address, browser type and pages requested) to deliver, secure and operate the site.
- Cookies / local storage. This site keeps a small amount of data in your browser (such as remembering that you closed the notice banner, your accessibility display preferences, and any announcement you have already dismissed) purely for your convenience. If you clear your browser storage, these things may reset. We do not use cookies for advertising or tracking.
How we use information
We use the information we receive to:
- respond to enquiries and expressions of interest;
- manage club membership and communications;
- operate, maintain and secure this website.
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising. Access to the personal information the club itself holds is limited to committee members who need it to run the club. Analytics and hosting data are held by the providers described above under their own policies.
Photos and social media
Photos of club events and games may appear on this site and on our social media pages. We aim to gain appropriate consent (including parental/guardian consent for junior members) before publishing identifiable images. If a photo of you or your child needs to be removed, contact us and we will action it promptly.
Overseas processing
Our email, Google Forms/Workspace and web hosting services (Vercel) are operated from, or use servers located outside Australia (for example, the United States). This means personal information you provide through this website may be stored or processed overseas. We take reasonable steps to ensure those providers handle your information securely.
Your rights
Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you can ask us for access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where appropriate. To do so — or to raise any privacy concern — email geelongsharkssecretary2024@gmail.com. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
